About Ponchi AI.

Ponchi AI is an independent, early-stage AI venture founded by Hao-Yen Tang. We are developing engineering workflows for electronics teams, starting with requirements checks and traceable reports, alongside consulting and implementation work.

Our product work.

Spec-to-Hardware is our initial product focus. Its local requirements-checking example is implemented; the broader AI agent workflow is in development. Spec-to-ASIC is a complementary direction. Draw-to-Play is a separate family side project with recorded digital examples.

Spec-to-Hardware

In development

Engineering workflows for electronics teams, starting with requirement checks and traceable reports.

For: Electronics teams clarifying requirements before design work.

Input: Small synthetic requirements with explicit voltage and sampling-interval bounds.

Outputs: Implemented example — structured fields and reports linking each result to requirement IDs.

Checks: A deterministic local tool checks missing bounds and contradictory ranges, with an injected failure control.

Human review: Engineers confirm requirement meaning, clarify unresolved values and review tool results.

Current scope: This local Python example checks requirement consistency; engineers review the results before design work.

Spec-to-ASIC

In development

AI workflows that connect circuit requirements to architecture, schematics or RTL, and simulation results for mixed-signal chip design.

For: Mixed-signal chip and hardware engineering teams.

Input: Functional requirements, performance targets and design constraints.

Outputs: Development focus — editable architectures, schematics or RTL, and simulation reports.

Checks: Tool-based simulation and verification against engineering requirements.

Human review: Engineers review requirements, design decisions and verification results.

Current scope: The linked silicon examples are the founder's prior work at other organizations.

Draw-to-Play

Recorded demonstration

A family side project that turns children's drawings into character designs, toy-scale 3D studies and animations.

For: Families exploring a child's drawing as a digital character.

Input: Original hand-drawn characters, with their shapes and colours.

Outputs: Existing polished drawings, toy-scale 3D views and short animation files.

Checks: Visual comparison and recorded frame review; published files are checked during the site build.

Human review: A person selects and reviews each character study and animation.

Current scope: These examples demonstrate digital studies and recordings, rather than fabricated toys or a live self-service product.

Meet our founder.

I'm Hao-Yen Tang, co-founder and CTO of UltraSense Systems, where I run chip, firmware, algorithm, and system engineering. I work on the same problem from both ends: the physics of a piezoelectric transducer, and the mixed-signal circuit that has to read it for microamps in a car door at minus forty degrees.

Before UltraSense I was a staff IC designer at TDK-InvenSense, where I was chip lead across several generations of the UltraPrint ultrasonic fingerprint sensor family. I did my PhD at UC Berkeley in Bernhard Boser's group, where the fingerprint sensor-on-a-chip I built became the prototype for that product line and won the 2016 ISSCC best paper award.

Over the past year I have put AI agents to work across my company's engineering — chip design, firmware, test, documentation — and learned what it takes for a team to trust what they produce. Through Ponchi AI, I develop Spec-to-Real AI services that connect specifications and designs to chips, boards, and physical objects. Alongside that product work, I help engineering teams build agent workflows and train the people who run them.
